During my recent rowing challenge from Portugal to French Guiana, Peter Sowerby a colleague and friend contacted me in the middle of the ocean and explained about his condition, he was diagnosed with advanced (metastatic) prostate cancer on New Year’s Eve 2015 with a PSA reading of 2961. The normal level for a man in his 40’s is a mere 0.7, so you can perhaps sense that his prognosis is not great.  Please read more about his story.  https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Peter-Sowerby2017trilogy

So I asked how I could help raise awareness and have decided to support him on his challenges and work closely with Prostate Cancer UK on a longer term basis.

Prostate Cancer UK has a simple ambition – to stop men dying from prostate cancer. Through shifting the science over the next 10 years to focus on radical improvements in diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and support, we will stop prostate cancer being a killer.

The Challenge is London to Paris within 24hrs on a Brompton commuters bike.  I have only had 6 weeks to train for this epic challenge.

Departing at 1.30pm on Saturday 17th June 2017 from Park Plaza Riverbank Hotel 18 Albert Embankment SE1 7TJ.

The route is circa 65 miles in the UK and then approx. 115 miles in France, with a planned ETA of 3.00pm on Sunday 18th June 2017 at L’Arc De Triomphe and then the party begins!!!

I  would ask if you can spare the value of 1 days commute to work as a donation to this very worthy cause we (Peter, Prostate Cancer UK and I) would really appreciate your support.
